The purpose of PLAN (Professional Latino Advancement Network) is to provide Latino/a professionals and emerging community leaders with an opportunity to meet and make new contacts with other professionals from business, education, health, and public services. One of the main objectives of this Network is to close generational gaps by providing members and event participants with an opportunity to give and receive leadership and professional mentoring.

On Thursday, June 1, 2006, PLAN hosted a reception and a special awards event at the Marriott Residence Inn in Oxnard, California. Over 150 people attended to honor two outstanding Latino Professionals for their National recognition and achievement.

Dr. Lydia Ledesma-Reese was recognized for receiving the National Community College Hispanic Council's, Outstanding Community College Leader Award.

Edmund Sotelo, City Manager, City of Oxnard, was elected to the International City/County Management Association s Board of Directors - Western Region Vice President.
