Thank you for taking the time to read Latino Life Style. Welcome to my dream, welcome to my world. For me, this has been a life long dream, to publish my own magazine. A magazine specifically about and for Latinos. I know from more than twenty five years of journalism experience that Latino readers do support magazines that reflect their world.

What is LIFESTYLE. It’s a way of life or style of living that reflects the attitudes, values, feelings, beliefs, passions, dreams, aspirations, concerns, hopes, desires, and traditions
of a people.

Latino Life Style is already generating a lot of excitement because it’s the right idea, for the right audience, at the right time.

I’m driven by a strong conviction that the magazine should reflect the cultural diversity and Latino influences that shape the county today.

This premiere issue includes “The Browning of Ventura County,” a look at the great impact Latinos have in the county. “Rico & Mambo: Spitting Loqueras in the Airwaves,” is about how new radio station the Vibe, lured the county’s most popular morning radio co-hosts, Rico & Mambo, from Q104.7, after getting great ratings for ten years. The story is also about the explosion of reggaeton as a popular music genre and its power to turn around the radio station ratings and the rising influence of the Latino youth listening audience.

Other stories include artist/musician Xavier Montes, metal artist Art Rivas, Armando Lopez, developer of Oxnard’s downtown Centennial Plaza and Plaza Cinema, and a tribute to long time community activist Jack Nava.

Latino culture has become part of the American mainstream and marketers and media are eagerly embracing it. Corporate America has come to realize the buying power of Latino consumers.

I have more than 25 years of news media experience as a photojournalism and reporter for several county English and Spanish language publications. I feel confident that Latino Life Style will fill a need in the local market and be welcomed by readers, Latinos and non-Latinos, and advertisers.

Latino Lifestyle Magazine seeks to lead, educate, and raise awareness of our readers and advertisers to make the best decisions about Latinos. We want to help build bridges between the county’s Latino and non-Latino population.

To our advertisers. It’s important to understand that it’s not just about advertising and selling your products or service to Latinos, but understanding their culture, their backgrounds, their habits, their preferences and the ways they interact with each other. This is what will help you make them loyal customers.

Passion. If one word could describe what we bring to our readers, it would be passion. A passion for quality work. And most importantly, a passion for the complex and diverse people in our community we call Latinos. Every publication will be dedicated to current issues and concerns of the Ventura County Latino population. All issues will be approached from a positive point of view. We prefer to focus on alternatives, solutions, and positive news, instead of accentuating the problems.

Our magazine will be almost all local coverage. All staff writers and photographers are long time county residents with local roots and history and intensive knowledge of local issues. Freelance contributors and experienced industry experts in their respective fields (education, health, law enforcement, politics, business, real estate, finance, etc.) will contribute special stories and features to our publication.

We want to improve with every issue so please don’t hesitate to write us
and let us know what we’re doing good and/or bad. Please visit us online right here at
